My first week as an intern at JFL!

14 August 2018

Having been greeted with the warmest of welcomes from all the JFL team, to being taken out for lunch at Rum Kitchen and celebrating a work anniversary with champagne and sushi, it’s clear to see, I’ve had a great first week!

I arrived with little understanding as to how the world of recruitment and PR works, but I have learnt so much in a week, which initially feels impossible on your first day when you’re trying to eagerly jot down lots of alien information! Your first few days as an intern can be quite overwhelming and I was worried about how long it’d take me to grasp everything. However, everyone has been so patient and it’s lovely to be in an environment where everyone goes out of their way to make sure you have answers to your many questions, without being made to feel silly. Also, my mini heart attack every time the phone rings is slowly but surely disappearing, which is a definite plus!

Previously, I’ve only done work experience at bigger firms, which I’ve never been particularly keen on. I am already preferring working in a small team of fabulous people who have all gone out of their way to make sure I understand everything and know what I’m doing. Working in a small team means you learn so much more, you mix with a range of people at all levels and instead of feeling like an ‘small fish in a big pond’, I have been lucky enough to be thrust into learning and doing real work straight away.

I’ve genuinely loved my time at JFL so far. I’m excited to get to know everyone better and am very eager to learn as much as possible so I can get stuck into my role as a recruiter soon!

Thanks Olivia!
