Today officially marks the first day of autumn and we couldn’t be more excited for our favourite season to arrive. There are many things we love about autumn, and after a lot of deliberation, we managed to whittle them down to these!
PR Week Awards 2017
The PR Week Awards are the PR & Communications industries very own Oscars, and this year they are celebrating their 30th anniversary with their 80s inspired event at Grosvenor House on Wednesday 18th October! This year JFL are sponsoring the ‘New Consultancy of the Year’ award, so make sure to check back to find out the lucky winner!
Remember remember the fifth of November! With the smell of the roaring bonfire filling the air, nothing beats coming together with your family and friends and watching the fireworks unveil. Southwark fireworks display is one of the biggest free displays in London with over 30,000 people attending each year, but there are plenty of displays taking place all across London, so make sure to check out what’s going on near you!
Leaves change from greens to deep reds and no body, no matter what age, can resist going out of their way to step on a particularly crunchy looking leaf! Living in London doesn’t mean you can’t experience long, autumnal walks; Battersea, Hyde and Green Park are just a few lovely locations within the city, but if you’re wanting to head outside of London, why not try visiting a near-by National Trust?
Food & Drink
It is undoubtable that autumn brings some of the best food and drink to the table, and luckily for us, Soho’s notorious Sri-Lankan street food spot, Hoppers, is opening a second branch in St Christopher’s Place, providing the perfect excuse to eat out! If you love cocktails as much as we do, you’ll be happy to hear that London’s cocktail week is nearly upon us! From Monday 2nd to Sunday 8th October you can sip on your favourite cocktail in over 250 London bars. Check out this TimeOut article for more info! A new season can only mean one thing: a new wardrobe. Scarves, boots and chunky knits – the perfect combination! Autumn fashion is cosy and stylish; what more could we ask for? Summer clothing is fun, but autumn/winter fashion brings an opportunity to play around with layers and textures; perfect for the colder weather.
Cold, crisp mornings and dark, cosy evenings are just two of our favourite things about autumn. Even when autumn brings thunder and lightning, it creates the perfect setting for cosying up on the sofa, lighting a candle and watching your favourite film. If you fancy a change of scenery, the BFI Film Festival which streams over 300 films, documentaries and short films from around 50 countries is on from 4th-15th October – providing something for everyone! Alternatively, Backyard Cinemas are hosting an array of films in a selection of unusual and immersive locations around London. Check out their website to find out more info: www.backyardcinema.co.uk
Here at JFL, we love finding any excuse to celebrate, and luckily for us, throughout the autumnal months we have lots of JFL birthdays; 5 to be exact! Bring on the prosecco and birthday cake!
Halloween falls on a Tuesday this year, but this won’t stop us sporting our favourite fancy dress outfit (even if we do have to wait until the weekend) and heading out. If fancy dress isn’t your thing, enjoy some Halloween themed foods and a scary film from the comfort of your own home! Here are some Halloween cupcakes baked by our lovely April from last year.
Finally, autumn brings the countdown to Christmas, and who doesn’t love Christmas?
