World Food Day: Tuesday 16th October

16 October 2012

World Food Day marks the date the Food and Agriculture Organisation was founded. Every year, the Food and Agriculture Organisation pick a theme for the day, which highlights the world food problem and shows support to those struggling with the hunger and malnutrition that comes with poverty.

The themes have ranged from ‘Water for Life’ to ‘Youth Against Hunger’. Now the Food and Agriculture Organisation introduces “Agricultural cooperatives – key to feeding the world” for 2012, bringing our attention to the cooperatives who are helping to abolish world hunger and encouraging others to lend a hand.

But it’s not all doom and gloom – this day is also a chance for us to celebrate the developments that have already been made! You can show your support by making a donation on the Food and Agriculture Organisation’s website, or by taking part in one of their events taking place throughout the year.
