JFL's Tech PR Night, with Nicole Love-Lloyd

Feb 29

Have you considered a career in technology PR? If not, why not? This February 29th, the JFL team will be joined by Nicole Love-Lloyd (Director at Marlin PR), to give you an insight into the constantly-evolving world of tech PR.

Nicole will be discussing the preconceptions surrounding tech PR, and revealing why it’s actually a pretty cool sector to work in right now! As a Director at Marlin PR, who list Bang & Olufsen and Sony among their clients, Nicole has fantastic experience working on some big name accounts, and this is a great opportunity to learn what a career in tech PR could mean for you.

As well as discussing the opportunities that tech PR offers, Nicole will be sharing her tips and tricks for how to maximise career opportunities in the agency world. There will also be the chance to ask questions and meet other like-minded PRs, with the JFL team on hand to offer advice and guidance.

So if you are between Account Executive and Senior Account Manager level, are looking for a new role this year, or are just curious to learn more about tech PR, this event could be for you! Please note that places are limited, so if you would like to attend, please email your details and a copy of your CV to Gabrielle Goode at events@jflrecruit.com

PUBLIC AFFAIRS SNIPPETS - JFL'S WEEKLY ROUNDUP OF THE LATEST NEWS

Jan 31

Cohn & Wolfe is launching its first dedicated public affairs practice, named C&W Political Counsel. The agency aims to provide a public affairs service that will be fully integrated with its corporate and consumer divisions.

The Government has been warned that its proposals on the lobbying industry could contravene European law. An investigation carried out by lawyers in 2001 suggested a government register that excluded in-house staff could break European Laws on equality.

The Director of Standup4lobbying, Mark Adams, believes that the almost universally derided government consultation paper on regulating lobbying is conversely less effective than the existing self-regulatory regime. Adams is quoted as saying, “public policy should be based on empirical analysis that sets out the problem and argument to justify the solution. The nonsense the Government has produced does neither.”

ICAP have appointed Hannah Gurga to the brand new role of Adviser, European Government affairs. Hannah previously worked as a Treasury Civil servant. Her new role includes monitoring UK and EU policy and legislative initiatives, and formulating and delivering ICAP’s responses. Perhaps a sign of the growing influence/ or perception of influence of European institutions!

Interel Consulting has snapped up Julie Harris to lead its consumer and leisure practice. She joins from Fleishman-Hillard where she was a Partner, and she was placed by JFL!

Phillip Morris International, has appointed Arnold Schwarzenegger’s former press secretary Julie Soderlund, as director of regulatory comms, the global tobacco company’s top comms and lobbying role.
